COVID-19 Claims Benue Varsity’s Deputy VC, CSO

Sad and painful news hit the Benue State University (BENSU) community in Makurdi on Sunday, July 5, 2030 with the death of Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Godwin Achinge due to COVID-19 complications.

Also lost to the deadly coronavirus infection same day is the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the institution, Mr Dooior.

Late Achinge was the Vice-Chairman of Benue State Action Committee on COVID-19 and his death is reportedly linked to COVID-19 complications.

According to reliable sources, while Prof Achinge died on Sunday afternoon at a hospital facility in Jos where he was taken to after testing positive for COVID-19 early last week, Dooior died in an undisclosed hospital in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.

Contacted for her reaction on the development, State Commissioner of Information, Mrs Ngunan Addingi, said there is no official information on such development from the university or the family.

She however promised to contact the media on latest information regarding the two senior BENSU officials later today.
