The Supreme Court on Friday struck out a suit instituted against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seeking to enforce zoning and rotatory policy of the Party ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The apex Court in a unanimous decision, struck out the suit on the ground that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain it.

One of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the PDP and former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Cosmos Ndukwe, who instituted the suit, prayed the Court for an order to compel the Party its zoning and rotatory policy.

Ndukwe also prayed the Supreme Court for an order to compel the PDP to zone the nomination of its presidential candidate to the South East geo-political zone of the country.

But, in a unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Adamu Jauro, the Supreme Court held that the suit was not justiciable on the ground that the nomination of candidates for election is an internal affairs of political parties.
