Government Secondly School Tse-Agberagba in Benue State has come under attack by persons suspected to be aggrieved candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination [WASSCE].

According to an eyewitness account, the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, August 22, 2021

Tse Agberagba is the headquarters of Konshisha Local Government Area in the Benue North-east senatorial zone.

Reports from the area indicated that some angry students whose West African Examination Council (WAEC) registrations were cancelled by the school authorities for irregularities and other discrepancies had vowed to burn the school down.

However, sources close to the School authorities said it is not yet determined if the disgruntled students were the ones that eventually carried out their threat or another group was responsible for the inferno.

The sources hinted that the fire destroyed records of WAEC candidates dating as far back as the 1990s alongside other important school documents.

Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, the Benue State Ministry of Education and the Teaching Service Board were yet to officially comment on the incident.
