Army Rescues 8 Hostages In Kaduna

BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed in Operation Idon Raini have rescued eight hostages kidnapped along Maganda-Sofo-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State.

The troops, on clearance patrol along Maganda-Funtua road, said the hostages rescued include, three men, two women and three children.

A statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu on Tuesday said the troops also recovered some items from the bandits including, one red Golf car, a trailer and two boxes of clothes belonging to one of the passengers.

The statement explained that the Nigerian Army troops on patrol to Nachibi village recovered a motorcycle abandoned by a bandit when he sighted the troops approaching.

In another operation, the troops encountered bandits at Maidaro village where they were rustling cows. Three members of the vigilante sustained gunshot wounds, while one person was killed in action during the encounter.

General Chukwu urged the public to report any suspicious movements to law enforcement agents while being security conscious at all time
