Palpable fear has enveloped the Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State following deadly attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area by armed bandits terrorising the area.
The deadly bandits who invaded the school on Sunday night, killed the vice principal of the school, Mr Hassan Yakubu who attempted to protect the students and also successfully abducted scores of students, whose number is yet to be determined as the authorities have yet to release an official figure.
However, a resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers stormed the school unhindered, unleashing terror and plunging the community into severe shock and fear.
According to her; “It is a heartbreaking tragedy that has thrown the entire region into deep fear and mourning”.
Meanwhile, residents are mourning the killed vice principal, who they described as a dedicated educator that risked his life for the students.
Residents have called on the State and federal government to act decisively and rescue the abducted students as well as forestall further attacks on schools and vulnerable communities in the region.
The Police Command in Kebbi State has confirmed the incident, saying that security operatives have been despatched to the school while others are tracking the fleeing bandits for the possible rescue of the abducted students.
