Boko Haram: Troops Reunite With Families After Operations In North-East

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Following the directive by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, to get troops that have over stayed in the war front against insurgency in the North-east, soldiers of the 29 Battalion based in Port Harcourt, have been rotated and returned to their main unit amidst cheers and jubilation from their familiesĀ and colleagues.

The troops served in various units under Operation LAFIYA DOLE where they contributed immensely to the successes of routing out and defeating the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-east.

While welcoming the returnee troops, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General EO Udoh,Ā applauded them for their selfless sacrifices to the nation and for successfully retuning back to their unit after a successful tour of duty in the North-east.

General Udo also enjoined them to pray for the protection of their colleagues and continued victory over the remnant of the terrorists who are the enemies of the nation.

The GOC reassured the troops on their welfare and that of their families and urged them to remain professional in discharging their duties with the love of their country at heart as they would soon be deployed for the Divisionā€™s routine operations after their disembarkation leave.
A statement by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the 6 Division Nigerian Army Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, said the rotation of overstayed soldiers in Operation LAFIYA DOLE is ongoing, as more troops are being inducted while those that stayed long are de-inductedĀ from the theatre of operations.
