A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, February 16, 2026, adjourned a suit seeking to stop former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor of Anambra State and the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter obi from contesting in the 2027 presidential election.
The suit was filed by the Incorporated Trustees of National Forum of former legislators in which they are praying the court to stop the two political leaders from contesting the 2027 election.
In the suit, the forum which joined Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as co-defendant, urged the court to stop the electoral body not to include the names of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi on the ballot paper.
The plaintiff is expected to give reasons for filing the suit when the case comes up on February 24, 2026.
