A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in Maitama-Abuja has rescinded the bench warrant it earlier granted against the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Kabiru Turaki, SAN.
The court presided over by Justice Peter Kekemeke had issued the bench warrant for failing to appear before it in a lone charge of providing false information to the Nigeria police.
A statement by Ibrahim Abdullahi, Esq, Principal Private Secretary to Kabiru Turaki, SAN, stated that the court, in its ruling, granted the oral application of counsel to the defendant, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, which was not opposed by the prosecution counsel, Usman Rabiu.
Justice Kekemeke held that the essence of the bench warrant was to produce the defendant in court.
Justice Kekemeke ruled; “Since the defendant has appeared voluntarily without being arrested, and the application not being contested, the bench warrant is hereby rescinded”.
Accordingly, the case was adjourned to April 22, 2026.
