At a time when grumblings about hard times have become a regular ringtone everywhere, a religious body, the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) took a giant step towards giving Nigerians hope of a better future. The package was a business and success conference tagged ‘HUB’ to enrich and empower individuals across Nigeria. Forefront probes the idea behind this Forum which organisers explained is not a mere reaction to the current global economic crisis
Certainly, it would have been difficult for another venue than the palatial COZA Auditorium, Guzape Hills, Asokoro Extension, Abuja to host this highly educative, illuminating and spiritually inspiring three-day event. An excited lead member of the HUB Local Organising Committee (LOC), Alex Izinyon was upbeat that COZA’s vision of raising enterprising generation-next individuals made its Senior Pastor, Reverend Biodun Fatoyinbo ‘sensitive enough’ to package HUB as “a business and success conference to enrich individuals across Nigeria, and empower them to build multiple income streams and sustainable businesses.” For the Church, HUB presents an important platform for entrepreneurs, management executives and other marketplace stakeholders to hone their skills and capacity at building new partnerships, expanding frontiers and effective service delivery. But amidst existing and emerging life challenges, Izinyon said HUB was not conceived as a “reaction to the global economic crisis, rather it is a platform to build, empower and communicate the mind of God to people about their businesses”, adding, “Enough of people depending on a meagre salary for their daily living; we want to see people having multiple streams and being able to contribute immensely to national and global development at large.” He said COZA firmly believes, “It is time for Nigerian businesses to leave their footprints on the global economy; It is time for people all over the world, to look towards Nigeria to learn and depend on it for investments. This is one of such platforms that will change the tides of things.” The event attracted internationally renowned speakers, who were fully prepared and armed with great business principles to help change the mindsets of individuals and give them head starts in their businesses and careers. The HUB conference in its maiden edition, had Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo as the chief speaker. Participants drew great inspiration and benefitted immensely from Pastor Ashimolowo’s decades of experience in global leadership and business, especially having been on platforms all over the world, teaching corporate governance, competitive strategy as well as global relevance. Alibaba, Jimi Tewe, Steve Harris and Paul Foh were among the team of prolific speakers to the HUB that witnessed lots of surprises and enjoyed participation from industry leaders, management teams and other upwardly mobile individuals. The event was free with certificates of attendance issued to those who pre-registered online. In a presentation titled: “Why We Need Wealth Transfer”, Pastor Ashimolowo said it is meant: “To reach the millennial; To respond on a large scale to the world’s social needs; To compete with the quality of music in the dance hall; To make a change and be a blessing; To provide adequately for our families; and To enjoy the comfort we desire.” According to him, four levels of people that God will transfer wealth to are: ‘Makers of Wealth; Managers of Wealth; and Distributors of Wealth; and the Field Marshalls’. Many participants agree major highlights and take home points from the conference include the realization that God wants us to be a blessing to others and our generations; We were made to thrive on earth; Refuse to just survive; We can’t help others if we are in a place of lack; and Believe God for wealth transfer. Importantly too, wealth transfer is an idea from God, not man and it is not just about transfer of money, but also a transfer of concepts. For the LOC, five lessons from the event include: Switch from a consumer to a producer; and Fix a daily rate on yourself because there are places you should no longer step into since they do not know your worth. Others are: Sacrifice now to have a better future; Be in the wealthy place; Find and use your gifts. Information available at its Word Factory indicates that COZA is a “church birthed by God through our Senior Pastors, Reverend Biodun Fatoyinbo and Pastor Modele Fatoyinbo.” It set out about 17 years ago with a vision to raise a take-over generation and has been fully committed to building people up, adequately informing nations and raising disciples for Jesus all over the world.
