A high powered top management team of Zenith Bank Plc on Thursday evening went to Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State to beg Governor Mr Ayodele Fayose, over the involvement of the bank in the funding of the June 21, 2014 governorship election of the state chief Executive.

Their visit to Governor Fayose was predicated upon a reported denial by the bank that it was not part of the funding of the election.

The team which was led by an Executive Director, Sola Oladipo had two zonal directors of the bank and the Ado-Ekiti branch manager.
When approached by journalists to state their mission, the Executive Director, said they were in the state to see the governor.

When asked if the bank actually dissociated itself from the claim by Governor Fayose that it was part of the funding of the election, Shola barely mutter some inaudible words, saying that since the spokesman for the bank was not on the team, he could not say anything in the regard.

However, while commenting on the development, Governor Fayose said the bank officials came to beg him over the issue.

He said; “They were begging me and that the matter should not go beyond this level. I asked them why did they have to go to the EFCC to tell lies?

“Why did they have to lie that money came from the Office of the National Security Adviser? If the money is for me why did they have to link with me with what is not,” Fayose asked.
