Crisis: Governor Mohammed Of Bauchi Suspends Emir of Misau, Others

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Governor Bala Mohammad of Bauchi State on Friday wielded the big stick by suspending the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman and other members of the traditional Council in the area for alleged perceived roles in the events that led to the crisis in the area leading to loss of lives.

The development is coming barely two days after the Governor suspended the Local Government management over the farmers/herders clash that led to the death of nine people in Zadawa District of Misau Local Government.

Governor Mohammed, who announced the suspension while inaugurating a 13-man administrative committee of enquiry to get to the root cause of the crisis, warned that nobody, no matter how highly placed will be dealt with if found culpable.

Muhammad therefore ordered the suspended traditional rulers to remain in Misau while the suspension lasts and subject themselves to the Investigative committee for relevant information that will assist the committee in its function.

He explained that the inclusion of the traditional institution in the suspension followed a petition that indicted them of complexity in the incident that led to the crisis and called on the committee to identify the perpetrators in order to face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others

Mohammed said that the decision is part of measures to stop the prevalence of disputes between farmers and Fulani herdsmen, adding that government would not stop to insuring adequate security of lives and property of all citizens of the state

In his remark, chairman of administrative committee of enquiry, Air Commodore Tijjani Baba Gamawa (rtd) expressed the readiness of the members to carry out their duties within the ambit of the law.

The committee has three weeks within which to submit its report.
