Defectors Planning To Scuttle 2019 Elections – Senator Adamu

BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – One of the pro-President Buhari Senators in the National Assembly, Senator Abdullahi Adamu representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District has accused politicians defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to scuttle next year’s general elections.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting in Government House Lafia, Senator Adamu, who was governor of Nasarawa State between 1999 and 2007, said that politicians leaving the APC are threats to the 2019 polls.

Adamu, who was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 1999 to 2014, said such politicians have lost relevance and would therefore want to do anything to scuttle the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

He described them as saboteurs, adding that their plan is to destroy the hard earn legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari which is premise on Economy, anti-corruption and security.

The former governor said the defectors are using stolen wealth to fight the President Buhari-led federal government and frustrate effort of government to build a strong and united Nigeria.

In his words; “They have seen failure and are scared of the forth coming election, so would do anything to cause problem but no matter their antics Buhari will win the 2019 general elections”.

Also speaking, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura said that he is very confident that the gale of defections sweeping across the various state chapters of the APC, would not get to Nasarawa State.

He commended APC members of the National Assembly from the state for remaining firm in support of the party, and urged them to remain loyal party members.

Al-Makura particularly thanked Senator Adamu and the two APC members of the House of Representatives for their commitment, seriousness and dedication to effective service delivery.

He said that Nasarawa State would always support President Buhari, and assured the President of bloc votes in 2019.

The governor said the stakeholders meeting was convened to reaffirm commitment to the vision, mission and aspiration of the party, and lauded the stakeholders for their doggedness over time.

The governor urged stakeholders to disregard speculations by people seeking to break the ranks of APC in the state, saying that the party is “fully intact”.

The stakeholders, at the meeting, endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid following a motion by Al-Makura which was seconded by Senator Adamu.
