The days ahead for the Deputy Governor of Edo State, comrade Philip Shaibu, look rough and bumpy, just as his many battles in his home state and against his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Shaibu, who emerged at a parallel Party primary as the Governorship candidate of the PDP, is really troubled and wants to be rescued from the mountain top he climbed all by himself thus, raised an alarm over what he described as fresh plots to kick him out of office.

He had warned the PDP after his emergence as factional candidate not to attempt to reject his candidacy else, it would have no business participating in the September Governorship election in Edo State.

However, the embattled Shaibu once considered the most powerful deputy governor in the country, said that the fresh plots are aimed at removing him from office.

According to him, his offence emanated on the heels of his emergence as a factional governorship candidate of the PDP for the scheduled September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State which he said has not gone down well with some powers that be in the state.

In the words of Shaibu; “They are threatening to impeach me. As we speak, my team has been calling me that, ‘look at what these people are doing. They are saying they are going to impeach you, that you have gotten too far.’

“And I said, well, if fighting for my rights and all of us collectively fighting for my rights as in the constitution that triggers impeachment, so be it.

“Fighting for my right and saying I must contest the election is my constitutional right and cannot be taken by anybody. So, if constitutional right is why they will now trigger impeachment, the courts are there to interpret it,” he enthused.
