Edo Votes: Obaseki, Ize-Iyamu Win Polling Units

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, both won majority votes cast in their respective polling units

Voting at Ward 4, Unit 19 in Oredo local government area, Obaseki polled 184 votes while Ize-Iyamu secured 62 votes.

In Unit 21, PDP got 53 votes while the APC polled 33 votes. Similarly, Obasekiā€™s PDP amassed 70 votes to Ize-Iyamuā€™s APC total of 65 votes in Unit 22 while figures released from Unit 23 had PDP polling 101 to APC 32 votes.

In Unit 24 of the same Oredo Ward 4, PDP won with 94 votes, while the APC got 50 votes. The PDP continued its impressive showing in Unit 25, polling 33 votes ahead of the APC with 22 votes.

Also from Unit 26, APC got 40 votes to PDP’s 98 votes; in Unit 7, PDP amassed 93 votes to APC’s 28 votes, and in Unit 28, PDP recorded 77 votes and APC had 39 votes.

For the APC candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who voted at Ward 5, Iguododo community in Orhionwon Local Government Area, the result indicated that he polled 292 votes to defeat Obaseki with 21 votes.

The APC candidate had voted at about 9:30am at polling unit 26, Ward 5, and expressed confidence that APC would win the election if the peaceful situation at his unit was the same everywhere in the state
