- As Liverpool tackle Norwich in today’s opener
BY EDMOND ODOK – Hostilities in the 2019-20 season of the world’s most glamorous football league, English Premiership, flag-off today with UEFA Champions League holders, Liverpool taking on returnees, Norwich City at their Anfield home turf.
Already, the punters are upbeat in expectations of a goal feast and huge entertainment given the dramatic happenings that have always trailed previous encounters between the Reds and Canaries
As Anfield get set for the first game of the 2019-20 Premier League season, the Reds will be optimistic of ending their lengthy wait for another league title, having missed their opportunity last season, finishing just a point behind eventual champions, Manchester City.
Interestingly, the Jurgen Klopp’s men were undefeated in front of their home fans in all competitions (W22 D3) last season, and are clear favourites to triumph today at odds of (1.14) with bet365.
Though not busy in the just concluded transfer market transactions, Liverpool are, as usual, expected paint Anfield red with lots of goals against the newly promoted Norwich City.
However, the biggest fixture for this weekend’s opening games remains the mouth-watering showdown between Manchester United and Chelsea slated for the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford on Sunday at 4.30pm local time.
