FCT Police Command Debunks Military Claim On Threats Against Lt. Yerima, Who Stood Up To Wike

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has debunked reports alleging that some unidentified persons in two unmarked Hilux vans trailed Lieutenant A.M. Yerima in an assassination attempt.

Lt. Yerima was the naval officer who last week Tuesday, prevented the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike from gaining access to a plot of land in Gaduwa District of the Nation’s capital.

Reported military accounts had indicated that Yerima was on Sunday evening, November 16, 2025, allegedly trailed from the NIPCO filling station off the Kubwa Motorway through Gado Nasko Road thereby prompting him to carry out an escape manoeuvres before eventually losing the vehicles.

But, the Police Command in the FCT on Monday, November 17, 2025, debunked the report, saying that it was false and insisted that “no such incident was recorded, reported, or observed anywhere with the Federal Capital Territory”.

The FCT Police Command assured residents of continued surveillance and swift response to genuine threats, insisting that the alleged plot against Lt. Yerima exists only in the realm of speculation.

Spokesperson of the Police in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.

Adeh said; “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt Ahmed Yerima.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory,” she declared.

The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command urged members of the public to refrain from giving life to unverified claims capable of fueling tension, saying; “The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic”.

Adeh further said that the Command remains fully committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all residents, noting that any suspicious movement should be promptly reported to the nearest police division for proper action.
