Zenith Bank Plc has denied claims by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, that his 2014 Governorship campaign was sponsored by the Bank.

Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Mr. Peter Amangbo, pointedly said that the allegation that the bank funded the Ekiti State Governorship election, was false.
Governor Fayose had claimed that his campaign was funded by Zenith bank and a few private individuals.
But speaking to operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Amangbo dismissed Fayose’s claims, stressing that Zenith bank had only one branch in Ekiti State thus, wondered why the bank would invest in Fayose when the State Government had no account with the bank.
A dependable source at the EFCC, said that the Zenith Bank chief Executive Officer, Mr Amangbo specifically said that at no time did he meet with Fayose’s associate, Abiodun Agbele, or any of Fayose’s representative.
The source further said; “Amangbo further said that at no time did Fayose and the chairman of the bank, Mr. Jim Ovia, and himself held a meeting.
“He said the bank, as a matter of policy, does not sponsor political groups or elections,” the source at the anti-graft agency said.
