- Olabode George moved the expulsion motion, seconded by Hon Samaila Burga

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has finally expelled Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; and former National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu among several other high-profile members of the main opposition party.
According to the Party’s National Convention currently ongoing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, this is a landmark step aimed at restoring unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The list of those also sent packing from the PDP include Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) and Hon. Austin Nwachukwu
Reports indicated that the former National Vice Chairman of the Party (South), Chief Olabode George moved the motion for their expulsion and this was seconded by Hon Samaila Burga, Chairman of Bauchi State chapter of PDP.
This latest development comes against the backdrop of moves by the faction loyal to Nyesom Wike to stop the Convention through the court.
However, the party secured judgment at a High Court in Oyo giving the Convention the stamp of authority to go ahead
Interestingly, ahead of the Convention, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Wike-led faction, Mao Ohabunwa, had claimed that anyone going to Ibadan for the purpose of convention would just going there to relax because the exercise would not be recognized by law.
While describing the exercise as a “jamboree”, Mao Ohabunwa had said those going to Ibadan should relax and have fun, adding that Anyanwu, had issued a circular, notifying members about the postponement of the convention.
He was quoted as saying: ”We have met as the national working committee of PDP, and reviewed our activities. We have agreed to obey all the court decisions on the Ibadan convention. So, we are not part of the exercise.
”Ibadan is a public place, people can go for anything but not for convention, anyone going there in the name of convention should consider it a jamboree.
”We won’t tolerate flagrant abuse of the constitution by some individuals in the name of a convention.”
Similarly, the factional Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Muhammad, had charged delegates to stay away from the Convention and wait for the right time.
Muhammad promised to keep mobilizing members across the 36 states and the FCT for a strong and united PDP.
”We are concerned with moving PDP forward, therefore, all delegates across the country should stay away from the Ibadan convention”.
