Fire has gutted a yet-to-be-identified building in the Mile 2 area of Lagos, according to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) said on Saturday.
According to LSFRS, the building is located in the Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate. However, the agency, which did not provide further details, said it was currently attending to the disaster.
Writing in a post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, LSFRS said: “Fire Alert! The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a Fire outbreak at Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate, Mile 2, Lagos.
“We’re assuring the public that we’re currently on top of the situation, as the public does not need to exercise fear.”
Fire Outbreaks In Lagos
On record, available information indicates that this latest incident is coming about a month after a fire broke out on 24th December 2025, at the Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) House located at 47/57 Martins Street.

Emergency agencies’ preliminary investigations suggested that the fire may have been due to human error, specifically unsafe generator use and refuelling on different floors of the now burnt building
It was reliably gathered that GNI building fire was aggravated by combustible materials stored in the property, which had been converted into warehouses.
Reports also showed that structural weaknesses were noticeable, with a section of the building collapsing during the fire, trapping several victims.
Just recently, on Tuesday, 20th January 2025, goods worth several millions of Naira were reported destroyed when fire broke out on a one-storey commercial building on Somoye Osundairo Street in Computer Village, Ikeja area of Lagos State.
In its incident report, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said fire started at about 1:55 a.m, prompting the immediate activation of the State’s emergency response plan from its Command and Control Centre in Alausa.
However, few days later, another fire outbreak destroyed a one-storey shopping complex housing clothes dealers at 1, Amore Street, Ajegunle Boundary, Lagos, with goods and property worth several millions of Naira lost in the unfortunate incident.
