Former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam has described the rumours of his resignation from the coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC), as false, insisting that he remains a proud and committed member of the Party.

Also, Suswam pointedly dismissed claims that he secretly defected from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that he has no plan whatsoever to join the ruling party.

Suswam, who stated these on Sunday, October 19, 2025, during a visit to Prof Saasongo Nongu in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, stressed that it would be beneath his political stature and a betrayal to his supporters to abandon the party without their knowledge.

In the words of Suswam; “I am too big to dump the ADC in secret. Leaving the party quietly would be the height of disgrace to my personality and a betrayal to my loyalists”.

The former governor emphasised his commitment to the ADC and pledged to continue working towards strengthening the party and expanding its influence across Benue State and beyond.

He therefore appealed to party members to rally behind Prof. Mzondu, whom he described as a visionary and dependable leader capable of upholding the ideals of the ADC.

In his own remarks, Prof Mzondu commended Suswam for his mentorship and leadership, thus pledged continued loyalty to him and the party.

According to Mzondu; “Senator Suswam has been a political father to me. His wisdom and leadership have shown me the right path to follow, and I remain loyal to him and the cause of our great party”.
