Gora Breaks New Grounds In Southern Kaduna Politics

In a bid to make a positive impact on the lives of his people, and in pursuance of his dream to represent the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Brigadier-General Katunku Simon Gora (rtd) recently engaged his campaign outfit, Destiny Campaign Organization in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, to interact with women, youths, stakeholders, friends and associates for a one-day workshop on improving security, health, education, agriculture and skill acquisition in the zone. AMOS TAUNA reports that the timely arrival of participants, resource persons and other dignitaries was a clear testimony of the enthusiasm and seriousness his people attached to his aspiration to represent them and reshape their destiny, among others

It was a one-day workshop organized by Destiny Campaign Organization to sensitize stakeholders within the constituency on the four-point agenda that General Katunku Simon Gora (retd) planned to vigorously pursue to bring the dividends of democracy to the people. The workshop intended to establish a sustainable working relationship between the aspirant and the people from the onset of his political ambition for clarity and better understanding of each others.
The workshop intended to create awareness on the priority areas of development which the aspirant is expected to pursue to ensure positive impact on the lives of the people, to create an atmosphere for healthy conversation between the stakeholders and professionals in the thematic areas on how best to tackle challenges of development in the constituency, as well as listen to stakeholders’ ideas on how best to move the constituency forward if given the mandate.
The workshop centered on improving security awareness, improving agricultural production and stimulating agro-business, improving health service delivery and healthy living and improving qualitative education in Southern Kaduna.
Resource persons were on hand to deliberate and bring the attention of participants to see the importance in the four key areas meant to ensure conducive environment that could guarantee and enhance standards of living in the area.
Moved with the new trend in the political development of the area, the Director General of Destiny Campaign Organization and former commissioner of water resources in the state, Tsahiru Bako, observed that the gathering was timely, apt, purposeful, educative and a new development that will set the pace for political revolution in the area, Kaduna State and the country as a whole.
To him, the workshop created awareness to sensitize and develop an improved politics, adding, “We cannot continue to have the same political arrangement for years which has disenchanted the people and portray politics as a dirty game.
“The aspirant is trying to inculcate in the minds of the people politics of inclusiveness, give value to the people and their votes as a way of carrying everybody along in all that pertain the constituency.
“Today’s event has brought people from different wards and local government areas together to chart a new course on how to carry out their daily living and interact together in a friendly atmosphere for a better and conducive environment.
“The workshop has created awareness, education and interaction among the participants on like a situation where aspirants sit in their homes or hotel rooms just to go and make nonsense of them.”
He called on politicians to ensure politics of inclusiveness that is meant for the general good of the people rather than money politics and godfatherism that has been the bane of democracy.
Gora told the audience that he has no money to give to them but has ideas, if strictly adhered to, could be the turning point of the people’s fortune.
“We cannot continue depending on government work that is not forthcoming any longer, but l think that it is time for us be creative on what we can do for a living. I strongly believe that the package l have for my people if given the mandate will change our perception about life and how to be self reliance.
“As a military officer, l tried it in the barrack and it worked perfectly well for the youth that had nothing doing. I believe that with the good environment around us, our youth and women, if given the necessary motivation, they will go places and employers of labour within a short time,” he emphasized.
Engr. Stephen Yakubu Star, while speaking on improving agricultural production and stimulating agro business in Southern Kaduna, stressed the need for modern mechanize farming that will give the people value. He noted that improved seedily and other farming inputs have to be used for the farmers to be able to compete favourably with other big time farmers.
He called on politicians in the area to assist the farmers by giving the needed incentives for them to be able to excel and see farming as a profitable venture that is worth doing.
Speaking on improving education in Southern Kaduna, Professor Bala Dogo of the Care and Action Research, a Non – Governmental Organization observed that the area is left behind educationally while calling on politicians and stakeholders to assist and ensure higher institutions are cited to accommodate many looking for admission to higher institutions.
Dr. Williams A. Zemo, while looking at the challenges posed in the health sector in Southern Kaduna explained that politicians have greater roles to play towards addressing the situation that has affected the people for years without any intervention from the government, either from the state or federal, to ameliorate the situation.
Some participants who spoke on the importance of the workshop described it as the first of its kind and called on politicians in the area to borrow a leaf from General Gora on how to move the entire zone, state and country as a whole.
The mammoth crowd that attended the workshop in Zonkwa reflected the willingness, yearnings and aspirations of the people to welcome positive changes that are capable of taking them to the Promised Land.
