Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says the emergence of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as the new Senate Minority Leader is an acknowledgment of his years of active service and contributions to national development.

He said the lawmaker’s experience and commitment to the cause of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also stand him out as a trusted personality and legislator of repute.

Senator Abaribe, represents Abia South Senatorial District in the National Assembly and is returning to the Senate for a record fourth tenure having won the February 23, 2019 National Assembly polls.

In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, in Umuahia on Friday, Governor Ikpeazu described the Senator as “a beacon of legislative excellence, whose doggedness confirms that there is great honour in the exercise of consistency, intergrity and courage.”

The governor said as a man of honour, Senator Abaribe has the capacity to evolve novel ideas, improved legislative integrity, dignity and a new impetus for opposition politics in the National Assembly (NASS).

Governor Ikpeazu said being among the longest serving senators in the ninth assembly, Senator Abaribe “has become well-versed in the business of legislation.”

According to him, Abaribe’s leadership qualities would add greater value to the types of laws expected from the Red legislative chamber.

Governor Ikpeazu described Senator Abaribe as representing “a compendium of legislative experience and a walking encyclopedia of the nuances of the legislative arm of government.”
