Gunmen Kill Enugu Dep Gov’s Security Aide

BY RAPHAEL ONYEKACHUKWU, ENUGU – There is palpable tension in Enugu, following the gruesome murder of a security operative attached to the office of Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo.

Although details of the murder of the security aide, popularly known as Sgt. Helen, is still sketchy as at the time of going to press, it was gathered that she was shot at Abakpa-Nike axis of Enugu metropolis at about 10 pm on Tuesday after closing from work.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, who confirmed the killing of the security aide, described the killing as painful.

According to the police spokesman, “If you look at what happened, it is painful and sad to hear that a security aide attached to the deputy governor was shot dead on her way back after closing from work. We can’t really say exactly what happened now, but we are trying to find out.”

Meanwhile, the state PPRO told Forefront that the police were closing in on those behind the murder of Helen, promising that nothing would be left to chance to bring the assailants to book.
