BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – Former All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator, representing Kaduna North Senatorial district, Suleiman Hunkuyi, says the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is ready to take over the seat of government in Kaduna state come 2019.

He has therefore urged Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai to focus the remaining months of his administration on arranging his belongings in readiness to exit the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in May 2019.

Senator Hunkuyi served the quit notice on Governor el-Rufai while formally defecting to the PDP, assuring that; “God gives power, but the APC regime in Kaduna and Nigeria have dealt with the electorate to the situation we have all found ourselves in the country.”

Speaking on behalf of others that defected with him from the ruling party, the lawmaker said; “We don’t insult, but we tell the truth. I am telling el-Rufai to use the remaining time he has in office to pack his things and be prepared to leave government house. We don’t insult, but they will feel pains through the casting of our votes.”

He described PDP as a rebranded party with all it takes to re-claim the leadership mantle at all levels of governance in the country.

According to him, “The error of bringing el-Rufai on board, l am begging the people of Kaduna State and God to forgive me for the role l played”, adding; “The engine of APC has been removed along with the tyres and as such it cannot help itself nor the people.”

Senator Hunkuyi, who declared that the APC will never return to power in the State, stated that; “We have come to join hands with our friends to liberate our people from the bondage of APC in Kaduna State.

“Let’s join hand with our great party, PDP and change things. Without PDP, there would be no end to the untold hardship Nigerians are suffering from. We are praying to God to help us to be united to be successful in reclaiming our state and country.”

The lawmaker however assured all civil servants sacked by the el-Rufai administration of justice, pledging that the new PDP government would review all cases and ensure those dismissed unjustly are reinstated.

In his remarks while welcoming the APC’s defectors, Kaduna State Chairman of PDP, Felix Hassan Hyet, said “Hunkuyi brought el-Rufai to power. I believe he has realized his mistakes and would therefore work hard towards correcting that by helping the PDP to send him packing from Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.”

The PDP Chairman, who charged party supporters not to despair or look back in the task of reclaiming Kaduna State, promised that they would work hard with all the returning members to liberate Kaduna State and Nigeria from the shackles of APC’s maladministration.

Hyet however expressed happiness that all the mistakes being made by the APC government are inadvertently assisting to engineer the opposition PDP’s return to the power saddle.
