Matthew Seyefa Steps In As Acting DG DSS

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Following the termination of the appointment of Mr. Lawal Musa Daura, the Presidency on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Mr. Matthew Seiyefa as the Acting Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS).

The official and verified Twitter Account of the Presidency states that “UPDATE: Matthew B. Seiyefa, the most senior Director in the Department of State Services (DSS), will act as Director-General until further notice.”

Seiyefa had held a meeting with the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa after the sacking of the Lawal Daura as Director General of the DSS.

Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday approved the termination of the appointment of the Lawal Daura as the Director-General of the DSS over alleged “breaching of national security”

Seiyefa, who hails from Bayelsa State, had earlier served as the Director of the Institute of Security Studies (ISS), before he was transferred to the DSS headquarters.

Other reports indicate that Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo held a meeting with Seiyefa when he arrived the Presidential Villa in an official SUV at 4pm, clutching a file and was received at the entrance by the ADC to the Acting President.

Seiyefa later left the office of the Acting President at about 5: 00pm without uttering a word to journalists that were waiting to hear from him.
