Nasarawa State Needs N12b To Develop Solid Mineral Sector

…Applauds FG for release of ecological funds

BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – Nasarawa State Government says it requires N12B to harness its solid mineral sector and boost revenue generation in the state.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Musa Ibrahim who announced this while chatting with newsmen in Lafia, said the state has completed plans to establish a solid minerals market to boost revenue generation in the state.

Ibrahim said when completed, locals will be opportune to display their product for prospective buyers and therefore appealed to the federal government to appropriate more funds to the
state to reclaim mining sites that have been devastated due to mining activities.
The Commissioner applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the release one billion Naira Ecological fund for erosion control in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the State, adding however that the state needs N4 billion to fight erosion.
“We thank President Buhari for the release of funds for ecological predicament. We also plead for more because the state needs about N4 billion for ecological problems.
“We also plead with mining companies to please abide by the community development agreement (CDA) for harmonious working relationship”.
Most residents, who spoke to our correspondent commended President Buhari for citing federal projects in the state.
Ibrahim Salihu of Agwan Nungu showered appreciation on Governor Abdullahi Sule for ensuring that the state is placed on the federal project radar.
