NSCDC Nabs 8 Illegal Miners, 27 Criminals In Nasarawa

BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says 35 suspected criminals have been arrested in the State in recent times

State Commandant of the Corps, Mamud Fari said among the suspected criminals are eight (8) illegal miners and hired killers

Fari, who addressed journalists at the Command Headquarters in Lafia, disclosed that among those currently in custody are seven (7) suspected hired killers who confessed to having killed nine (9) persons in the State.

Others on the list of suspects include a syndicate of six (6) that vandalized 109 railway sleepers and six (6) transformer-arts in Tudun Kauri, Lafia.

Also, five (5) members of a syndicate that specializes in snatching motorcycles across the State were rounded up along with five (5) stolen motorcycles.

Similarly, a three (3) man syndicate of handsets thieves were arrested and 27 cellular phones and laserjet printer recovered from them

Among items found with the eight (8) illegal miners were one Generator set; drilling machine; 10 shovels and other working equipments

According to the Commandant, all the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

He therefore warned criminals, especially bandits, to either surrender or relocate from the state as the Command is all out to stamp out crime and criminality from the North central state.
