Osun Rerun: Voters’ Intimidation, Harassment Were Prevalent – US, EU, UK Missions

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The missions of the United States, European Union and the United Kingdom that monitored the Osun State Governorship election rerun have said that there were high rates and incidents of interference and intimidation of voters.

The missions also said they have reports of harassment of party monitors, journalists and domestic observers, stressing that the exercise were majorly characterised with incidents of harassment and intimidation of voters.

The US Consul General, Mr John F. Bray, who read the joint statement of the missions reports on their monitoring said; “The missions of the United States, European Union and the United Kingdom observed voting at polling stations in Osun today (Thursday).

Bray said; “We are very concerned by these reports and we will be checking with stakeholders to determine the facts. We call on all stakeholders to remain calm.”
