Reject PDP’s Deceit Now – Ohanaeze Tells S-East Govs, Leaders

• Backs Gov Umahi, others’ exit from opposition party

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – For his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi has received uncommon support from the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) Worldwide.

In throwing its weight behind Umahi’s move described as unexpected by some political watchers, the Igbo Youth group said their support is guaranteed for other South East Governors and Leaders that decide to jump ship from PDP or any other political party to embrace the ruling APC.

In a statement by its President General and Secretary General; Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Mazi Nnabuike Okwu, the group maintained that the Southeast decision to part ways with PDP ahead of 2023 general elections is irreversible.

It further described as the height of PDP’s deceit the recent visit of its National Working Committee (NWC) led by Prince Uche Secondus to the Ebonyi State Liaison Office, Abuja, to convince and persuade the Umahi against abandoning the country’s main opposition party.

According to the statement; “It is the last kick of a dying horse and gathering of vultures to continue to rape Igbo votes unjustly especially in 2023 against the PDP zoning formula enshrined in her constitution that favours Southeast to produce the 2023 presidential Ticket and consequently produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s Successor in 2023.”

OYC, lauded Umahi, who is the South East Governors’ Forum Chairman, for his wisdom; wealth of experience; and efforts at ensuring the zoning formula as enshrined in PDP’s constitution is implemented fairly and equitably.

The Ohanaeze youths said the South East which has over the years proven to be PDP’s stronghold would be taken over by the APC in 2023 elections.

The youths further accused PDP of being economical with the truth, having been “compromised by some elements in the North to scuttle plans to zone its 2023 Presidential ticket to South East because PDP sees Igbo as conquered people and incapacitated, which is unjustly facilitated by an ill-conceived elite conspiracies against Southeast, but PDP had already perfected plans to Scuttle the Zoning Formula that favours South East, for a Northerner.”

“South East Governors should decamp to APC without delay, as PDP Leadership deceptive visit to Umahi was an affirmative evidence that PDP is already jittery of losing Igbo votes.

“But it’s too late for PDP, as Igbo’s decision of abandoning PDP is irreversible and final verdicts of Igbo Nation”, the group maintained.
