BY AHMED TUKUR LAFIA – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa state Command, says it is deploying about 3,000 personnel to ensure the security of lives and property during the Ed-El-fitr celebrations in the State.

The NSCDC Commandant, Mahmoud Fari, said the officers and men will be stationed at strategic locations and flash points to forestall any possible break down of law and order.

Fari, who issued a press statement in Lafia through the command Public Relations Officer, Sirajo Mohammed, said; “Enough personnel have been posted to all prayer grounds to control the crowd as one of the mandate of the Corps enshrined in section 3(1) (t) 2003 Act of the Corps which said “the Corps shall assist in Crowd and traffic control during any period of emergency.”

The Commandant called on Muslim Ummah to use the period in praying to Allah to bring to an end the global COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world

“Despite the lift of ban on worship centers by the State Governor, Engr A A Sule, Commandant Fari maintained that the public must continue to practice preventive measures such as wearing face masks, maintain social distances, washing of hands up to the elbow and use of hand sanitizers to mitigate the spread of COVID-19″, the statement said.

He said the Command is determined to ensure hitch free celebrations and warned individuals who indulge in crimes to stay clear of the state or face the wrath of law.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to be law abiding while in the spirit of celebration, adding that they should continue to imbibe the teaching of Holy Qur’an and Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) even after the Ramadan.
