BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has stated the determination of his administration to put an end to the Tiv-Jukun and any other crisis in the state with the desire to guarantee the protection of lives and properties of all Nigerians living in the state
Ishaku, who gave this assurance on Friday while inaugurating a seven-man judicial commission of inquiry into the Tiv-Jukun crisis in the state, said that with the caliber of person in the Commission of inquiry, the end to the crisis is in sight.
The commission of inquiry which is headed by a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Kumai Bayanga Aka’as, has Mr Hamidu Audu Esq. as Secretary with five other members.
While inaugurating the panel at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Jalingo, Governor Ishaku charged members of the committee to investigate the circumstances that led to the perennial crisis.
The governor expressed the readiness of the government to cooperate with the commission to achieve the onerous tasks before them.
He called on the crisis affected communities to cooperate with the commission to carry out its assignment to the later.
Ishaku said; “It is the determination of my administration to end the crisis and guarantee the protection of lives and properties of all Nigerians living in the state. This necessitated the government to constitute this judicial panel of inquiry.
“The caliber of personalities in this commission leaves me with no doubt that finally an end to the protracted conflicts in the affected local government areas is in sight.
Responding on behalf of the commission, Justice Aka’as (rtd) said the commission will do it’s best to live above board.
Aka’as assured that the commission would ensure that the purpose for which it was established is achieved.
Forefront News notes that the Tiv Jukun crisis which started in Kente village in Wukari Local Government Area late December, 2019 has claimed many lives and property.
Governor Ishaku last month constituted a seven man judicial panel of inquiry and gave it 90 days within which to submit its report.
