Unknown Gunmen Kill APC Chieftain In Zamfara

Some yet to be identified gunmen have shot and killed an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Zamfara State, Hon. Umar Sarkin Fada Moriki.

Reports indicated that the politician was gunned down early on Saturday morning near Fegi village, close to Gidan Dawa in Tsafe Local Government Area of the State.

According to APC sources, Moriki was reportedly travelling from Gusau to Kaduna when attackers opened fire on his vehicle, killing him on the spot.

The unfortunate incident has been confirmed by the Zamfara State chapter of the APC, led by Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani..

In a statement issued in Gusau, the State capital and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC said Moriki had participated in the APC stakeholders’ meeting and the grand reception held in honour of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

The party described late Moriki as a philanthropist known for his simplicity, dedication, and support for the less privileged.

Aged 62, the slain party stalwart had previously served as Vice Chairman of Zurmi Local Government Area, Director-General of the State Revenue Generation, and Special Adviser on Rural Electrification, among other roles.

The late Moriki is survived by three wives and several children.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle has reportedly cancelled all scheduled activities in his hometown of Maradun to attend the funeral prayer following the news of Moriki’s unfortunate death.
