BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – A staunch member and former gubernatorial aspirant in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Mallam Isa Hashiru has dumped the party.

Ashiru, who came second to the incumbent governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai at the APC primaries has officially written a withdrawal letter to the leadership of the party in his ward.

The letter dated June 7, 2018 and personally signed by Hashiru is addressed to the Chairman of APC Kudan Ward.

He stated in the letter; ”When I picked my form, I honestly believed that I was joining a movement that would positively change for good not only the way we play politics in our state, but also in people’s perception.

“This explains why even after my unsuccessful attempt to fly the party’s flag at the 2015 gubernatorial election, my supporters and I gave our support to ensure the success of the party at the polls, believing that in the short, medium and long term, not only would our contribution be acknowledged and appreciated, but more importantly, the interest and welfare of the people of Kaduna state would occupy the front-burner of the government to be formed.”

Ashiru further explained that part of the reason for dumping the party was because he and his supporters were been side-line from the party’s affairs and also been snubbed and denied recognition by the government he claimed to have laboured for its emergence in 2015.

He added that the party lack cohesion, internal party democracy, respect for the rule of law as well as the decency to respect the feelings and yearnings of all members and supporters, except some privileged few, especially in Kaduna State.

The former APC bigwig in Kaduna State is yet to declare the political party he would be joining in the days to come.
