A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, July 20, 2026, granted the National President of Miyetti Allah, Mr Bello Bodejo bail in the sum of N2 billion with two sureties in the like sum.
The court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo while ruling on the bail application, ordered that one of the sureties must present three years tax clearance to the court and must be a resident of Abuja and also ordered that the second surety must have a land worth N2 billion in Abuja.
Justice Kwo also ordered Bodejo to drop his international passport with the Registrar of the court and must not travel outside the country without the leave of the court.
The trial judge held that the offence for which Bodejo was charged with was bailable and that the court has the discretionary power to exercise this in his favour.
Justice Ekwo thereafter, adjourned the matter until October 5, 6, and 7 for commencement of trial.
Justice Ekwo had on July 9, this year, remanded Bodejo, who is the president of Miyetti Allah in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC’s) custody.
Ekwo gave the order following Bodejo’s arraignment by the EFCC on alleged money laundering offences, during which the counsel to the EFCC, Wahab Shittu, SAN, told the court that Bodejo is a sole defendant in the charge dated June 24 and filed June 25.
When the counts were read to him, the Miyetti president pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
