BY SEGUN ADDEBAYO, ABUJA – Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged his supporters and all eligible Nigerians to register and collect the Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) as their voice ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He said to avoid being disenfranchised, citizens’ constitutional responsibility entails registering and empowering themselves to vote leaders of their choice at the next general elections.

Speaking at the website launch of his support group, Concerned Citizens For Atiku (CC4Atiku), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain urged Nigerians to shun acts capable of disrupting the nation’s peace and unity.

Represented at the event by the Chairman of All-Atiku Support Groups, Mr. Oladimeji Fabiyi, the PDP Presidential aspirant noted that technology and effective communication would play huge roles in mobilizing the electorate in next year’s election.

He however warned that elections are not conducted or won in the social media, so it is pertinent for all eligible voters “to go out there and tell your family and friends to register and collect their PVC.”

The Waziri of Adamawa also urged young Nigerians to actively participate in politics and organise themselves for the purpose of being relevant in the scheme of things and effectively taking over power from the older generation of politicians.

“I have said it before and I will reiterate it here that I am fully committed to the agenda of generational transfer of power to the youths of this country. I think it is important that your generation participates more in politics and organise yourselves.”

In his remarks, the group’s Convener, Mr. Adebowale Jante applauded the former Vice President for honouring their invitation and stressed that the group will join several other Nigerians to support his shot at Nigeria’s presidency come 2019 general elections.
