2023: Gov Fintiri Is A Goner – Sen Abbo Boasts

BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – Controversial Senator Ishaku Abbo says there is no stopping the All Progressives Congress (APC) from trouncing those he termed political ‘thieves’ in Adamawa State and dumping them out of office come 2023 general elections

Abbo, until recently a cohort of Governor Umaru Fintiri in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said grassroots political forces are building consensus to rescue the North east state and reposition it on the path of sustainable growth and development.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ media conference in Yola, the lawmaker said joining the APC is not to seek power but partner with patriots and people who have conscience to correct the many ills of current PDP government in Adamawa State.

“We are in APC in the interest of Nigeria and the interest of Adamawa state. We are not power mongers neither are we desperate politicians. But we have come together to salvage Adamawa State from the grip of those that have made government their personal estate.”

“Senator Abbo did not came into APC to contest for Governor. I joined APC so that I can help champion a better Adamawa state for my own children”, the lawmaker, who represents Adamawa North Senatorial zone, said.

Sen Abbo

According to him; “Nobody among us here is after becoming a governor or senator or house of reps members. All we are after is the interest of Adamawa state.

“We are not desperate about power but are desperate about one thing; to remove that thief from office.”

Declaring that he is not afraid of making such scathing allegations, Senator Abbo said being a legislator he has no immunity and can therefore be sued if anyone feels offended by his public statements.

He regretted that despite serving in acting capacity for 76 days as governor, Fintiri has, in nearly two years as the governor of Adamawa State, failed to commission a single project that can positively impact the people’s people.

“In his nearly two years he has not started, completed and commissioned any project,” the Senator lamented

However, reacting to allegations levelled against Governor Fintiri, his Press Secretary, Humwhashi Wonosikou said the senator and his group are entitled to their opinion.

He warned that as a lawmaker, Senator Abbo knows the import of his statements and should be ready to defend such when the need arises.

On non-execution of projects in the State, Wonosikou said Governor Fintiri is not in any rush but taking his time to conceive and execute solid projects for the overall benefit of all Adamawa citizens.

He said if the Senator has refused to see the numerous projects across all the spheres of human endeavours, discerning residents of the state are witnessing the milestone achievements being recorded by the Fintiri’s administration, and are appreciating same.
