2023: INEC Releases Calendar Of Activities Ahead Of General Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has issued a calendar of political itinerary in the country for 2022.
The Electoral Commission explained that the calendar consists of political activities ahead of the 2023 Presidential, National Assembly, Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly elections.
A perusal of the released calendar by INEC indicated that starting from March 2022, the Electoral body will give guidelines to the respective parties for the conduct of primary election that will give birth to flag bearers.
The Commission said that based on the calendar, the process for the presidential and gubernatorial campaigns will kick start in April 2022 while party Congresses will kick off in May 2022.
The entire process will culminate in the Presidential election in February 2023.

- Consultation continues January: 1-31
- Intensive consultation continues February: 1-28
- March: INEC gives guideline for aspirants, candidates, parties in respect of congress, primary election and campaign.
- April: Campaign for Presidential and Gubernatorial elections.
- May: Party Congresses.
- June: Party Primary Elections.
- July: Petitions on Primary elections.
- August: Court of Appeal hearing on Primary elections conducted.
- September: Supreme Court verdict on all Primary elections. Candidates & winners for Presidential & Gubernatorial flag bearer of Parties contesting.
- October: Aggressive campaign by candidates/Parties across the federation.
- November: Campaign continues.
- December: Peace Accord signed by all presidential and Gubernatorial candidates.
- February 2023: Presidential and National Assembly elections
- March 2023: Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
