2023: Northern Youths Want Orji Kalu As APC Sole Presidential Candidate

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Few days after declaring his intention to aspire for the 2023 presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Northern Youth ‘Movement for Orji Uzor Kalu’, has urged the party to commence the process of adopting him as the sole presidential of the party for 2023.

This was as the political support group flooded major streets and vintage positions in Bauchi with the posters of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, saying that he remains the best presidential material in 2023.

The development is coming few weeks after some Northern youths took Senator Orji Kalu to a Bauchi State High Court asking the Court to compel him to declare interest to contest for the Presidency in 2023.

Residents of Bauchi, the state capital woke up in the morning of Friday to see Kalu’s posters pasted in every available space with a call to support a detribalised Nigerian president, who can unite the country and save the country from imminent disintegration.

The posters were sighted at the Emir’s palace round about, Central Market, Awalah, Fire Service, Jos road and several other roads and houses in the stare.

The group said that the managerial skills of Kalu, experience and national appeal put him in the best position to rule Nigeria in 2023.

It further said; “This may sound odd in the eyes of Nigerians especially those nursing the intention to run for the number one seat in the land, be that as it may, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s acceptability demonstrates the settled resolve of the youths in the 19 Northern states to support him succeed President Muhammadu Buhari”.

Kalu, who is the Chief Whip of the Senate and former Governor of Abia State, has been called upon by several Northern and Southern leaders, Civil Society Groups and youth groups to run for office of the president.
