BY EDMOND ODOK – Factional Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Segun Sowunmi, says there is no stopping his movement whose agenda seeks to create a paradigm shift and a new way of doing things in the South West State.

Sowunmi, who commended the recent Courts’ rulings on his right to challenge PDP’s decision in offering its gubernatorial ticket to rival, Hon Ladi Adebutu, said a new ideal is possible to move Ogun State forward in the coming dispensation.

However, he admitted that the journey will be tough, demanding the very best of focus and visionary approach to things by all stakeholders in Ogun state.

Declaring that ‘VICTORY IS CERTAINLY ASSURED’ in his ‘Thank You Message’ to the people, the former Spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation in the 2019 general elections, said; “I want to most profoundly thank you, my great people of Ogun state, friends, and the world at large, for your calls, support, love and shared encouragement over this victory at the High Court.

“I want to say that I was well aware that this journey will be tough and will demand the very best of my focus.”

Sowunmi further stated that; “We have always known that there is always a danger that democracy could resemble or could be made to fit into a model that could only favour a few rich and influential people in the society and the whole essence gets defeated if the mass of us who may have been subjugated do not find the currency of courage to be able to stand for what is right.

“I want to thank the Justice of the Court of Appeals for the beautiful judgment, well-considered and well-delivered. I thank them for a well-taken judgment given in our case.”
Importantly, the Public affairs analyst said; “This is just to thank all of our people. To thank the Egbas, the Ijebus, the Awuris, the Ketus, and many more including the non-indigenes resident in the State.

“I want to thank the Obas, the students, the women, the youth groups, and the stakeholders for their great solidarity with this movement ensuring that our agenda is to create a paradigm shift and determine a new way of doing things and a new ideal is possible.

“Indeed, to make a difference, we cannot continue to pretend that democracy is just a ritual to change the players without exactly examining the score of how many people the system works for.”

Also making a pledge to fight and defeat injustice in the PDP and the nation’s political system, he said; “You know my position on some issues already and I will be revisiting them I’m a couple of days. I just want to say thank you and to tell you that I am extremely grateful.”

The PDP factional flag bearer said being “a land of preeminent people, rich history, and very deep cultures, there is an Ogun standard and there is a standard that is expected and I promise you that with your support, I will not let you down.”

Sowunmi, who at a time was Special Assistant and Deputy Chief Press Secretary to former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, is currently in court challenging PDP over its choice of Hon Adebutu as the gubernatorial candidate in the state.
