2023: Ortom’s Senatorial Candidacy Gets A Boost

The prospects of Governor Samuel Ortom going to the Senate in 2023 recorded a boost on Saturday as the political and traditional leadership of Jemgbagh intermediate area gave him a unanimous endorsement ahead of the next year’s general elections.

The endorsement followed the outcome of the consultation by Governor Ortom and his team after a meeting with Jemgbagh leaders in Gboko in continuation of his aspiration to represent the Benue North-west Senatorial district.

Governor Ortom, led by members of MINDA PDP Elders Forum, met with Jemgbagh Traditional Rulers and PDP Elders Forum from Jemgbagh to solicit their support.

Ortom, who was given the blessings by the two groups to vie for the Zone B Senate, said he was humbled by the honour and pledged not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him.

This was as he said that he has consulted and gotten the go-ahead from his kinsmen from Nzorov, Nongov, Guma and MINDA and felt he should reach out to Jemgbagh block.

The Governor had earlier, paid condolences on Tor Jemgbagh, Chief Afatyo Ajoko on the death of his wife, Chief Mrs Mchianan Afatyo where he prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest and the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Tor Jemgbagh, Chief Afatyo Ajoko, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers and elder Umaru Aga for the Jemgbagh PDP Elders Forum, accepted to relinquish the Senate seat to MINDA and Governor Ortom in particular.

Earlier, Tor Lobi, Chief Moses Anagende and Secretary, MINDA PDP Elders Forum, Hon Charles Torbunde called on the people of Jemgbagh to support their son, Governor Ortom move to the Senate in 2023, noting that he has performed well as the Benue State chief executive.
