2023 Polls: Kano Remains Swing State – Ganduje Teases Amaechi
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje says Kano remains a swing state that is up for grabs by any of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s primary elections.
Speaking when former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, visited the State to canvass votes from delegates for his presidential project, Governor Ganduje said; “Kano is a swing state and we will continue to swing until the end, so try and be part of the swings”.
Clearly displaying a non-commital stand, Ganduje, who is considered a staunch supporter of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambition, however, lauded Amaechi for his doggedness in standing with the APC to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the presidency during the 2015 elections.
“We are aware how you suffered for our party at the mega movement of its formation. As DG Buhari Campaign Director, we knew how you were harrassed as Governor of Rivers State and how you were at a time denied from flying out of Kano which made you travel to Abuja by road”, the Kano Chief Executive recollected
Amaechi, who was in Kano in continuation of his presidential campaign and also to engage the APC delegates ahead of the party’s primaries, had earlier told Governor Ganduje, “I know your position as far as our party presidential candidature is concerned, and I want you to change for me”.
