2023 Presidency: Islamic Clerics Converge In Bauchi For Gov. Yahaya Bello
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Not fewer than 500 Islamic clerics and Qur’anic leaders on Sunday converged in Bauchi to pray for divine intervention for the presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
The Islamic clerics who were drawn from the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi state also committed the insecurity challenges facing the country as well as for the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections into God’s hands.
Speaking to newsmen during the prayer sessions, one of the clerics, Ustaz Mubarak Mato Baba Karami, said that the country is in dire need of a youthful leader who can take it to an unprecedented heights.
Karami explained that they have the confidence that Governor Yahaya Bello would get Nigeria out of the woods, and salvage the country from the multifarious problems such as insecurity, armed banditry, unemployment and other social vices bedeviling it.
Ustaz Karami, who led Imams and Islamic preachers to the special prayers from Bauchi, further said; “We were moved by the youthfulness of Yahaya Bello aspiring for the nation’s much coveted seat in the efforts to fix the country.
“Well-meaning and patriotic citizens have for decades been yearning for positive change, we are however lucky now to have a youth who can positively steer the ship of the Nigerian state to the advantage of each and every citizen.
“Our ardent hope, prayers and confidence is Bello’s commitment and zeal to take the bull by horn to aspire for the plum seat which is a commendable courage worthy of emulation by every youth worth his or her salt” he said.
The Islamic Cleric opined that what Nigeria needs now is a youthful and energetic person who will be able to take the country out of the present situation and make it a safe place to stay in.
Another participant, Imam Sulaiman Abdullahi Azare noted that the prayers will not go in futility, adding that apart from meeting their demands, it would also pave way for peaceful co-existence among the diverse people of Nigeria.
Azare however said; “The taste of food, it is said, is in the eating. So, let us all the youths of this country go for Yahaya Bello’s stewardship and leadership style. We are very optimistic that he will meet the needs and yearnings of Nigerians generally.
He said that they were hopeful that their prayers would provide the much desired leadership for the country, even if it was not bestowed on Yahaya Bello.
Azare further said; “If a leader is struggling to attain power, you should be rest assured that he will not be a good leader but when people agitate for him to lead, such a person will do well.
“Yahaya Bello has been called and he has responded to the yearning and aspiration of the people”.
