2023 Presidency: Women Groups Converge In Abuja For Yahaya Bello

The 2023 presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi got a boost on Tuesday in Abuja, as about 600 women groups converged to drumming support for his aspiration.

The different groups which came from the six geo-political zones of the included some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), professional and religious ornaisations.

The women groups on the banner of “Women United for Yahaya Bello”, held a solidarity walk tagged; ‘One million Women March for Yahaya Bello’.

The women said they are determined and prepared to do everything within their powers to ensure that Governor Bello, who believes so much in women empowerment clinch the presidential ticket of the All progressives Congress (APC) and from there win the 2023 elections.

They also said that Nigeria at this critical point in time, needs a vibrant, focused and visionary leader like Governor Yahaya Bello.

The women particularly said that the era of ‘bread and butter’ politics is gone and discarded for good, adding that they are more than ever ready to put their weight behind Bello in order for Nigeria to move forward positively.

Speaking at the Solidarity Walk, the President of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Vera Ndanusa, which was one of the Women organisations that participated at the event, said given the plethora of aspirants indicating interest in the 2023 presidency, it is clear that Bello stands out as the people’s choice.

Ndanusa, who stated the position of her organisation, further said that they would not rest on their oars until Bello clinches the presidential ticket, adding that the mammoth crowd that gathered for the solidarity walk was evidence that “whenever you empower a woman, you reap the benefits many times over”, adding that women empowerment should be given top priority by every Nigerian government.

Speaking in turn, the Global President of WUYABEL, Dr Hannatu Adeeko said the giant strides recorded by Governor Bello are quite fascinating, adding that the Kogi governor remains the only State chief Executive that boldly and decisively surpassed the prescribed quota for women globally.

Adeeko said she flew into Nigeria from the United States just for the solidarity walk, adding Kogi State was working against the backdrop of the fact that women are holding key and strategic positions in Bello’s cabinet.

In her own speech at the event, Ace Nollywood actress, Binta Ayo-Mogaji, who led the team of Ayo Adesanya, Dupe Jaiyesinmi, Rose Odika, Lanre Hassan (Mama Awero) and Madam Kofo, among others to the event, noted that the commendation by the Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Taylor remains a testimony for Bello.
