  • Plans ‘all-encompassing with broad-in-content agenda’, meeting for August 31

BY EDMOND ODOK – With all eyes on the official flag-off of political campaigns for the 2023 general elections next month, Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has moved to mend fences with aggrieved party men and build a united front for the ruling party.

Competent sources hinted that the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) has already penciled down Wednesday, August 31, 2022, as the engagement date to finally calm all frayed nerves with the APC and fine tune strategies for next year’s polls.

It was gathered that to achieve the set objectives of bringing on board and accommodating all contending interests, the TCO’s strategists have sustained extensive consultations with sleepless nights in their resolve to evolve an acceptable peace deal and incentive packages that would see the APC coming out stronger from its self-inflicted crisis over the same faith ticket.

Insiders privy to the arrangements said all the 22 presidential aspirants and the party flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are expected at the engagement meeting, touted as having an “all-encompassing with broad-in-content agenda”, and fixed for next week at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

One informed insider hinted that that APC National Leader and presidential flag bearer is not leaving anything to chance including using the meeting opportunity to literarily ‘beg’ all aggrieved stakeholders towards realising his ambition of becoming Nigeria’s number one citizen come 2023.

Confirming current waves of fence-mending consultations with the party, one of the party’s presidential aspirants, who stepped down for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at primaries, Dr Nicholas Felix is already upbeat about the positives that would come out of the engagement.

In a statement issued by his Media office, Dr Felix said; “The special invitation to the strategic meeting of all 2023 APC Presidential Aspirants, which will be held at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 by 2 pm is to brainstorm on adopting winning campaign strategies that will carry every Nigerian along and address the challenges bedevilling our country.”
