BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the presidential ambition of Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has continued to gather momentum with former Senate President, Dr Adolphus Wabara, and the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe throwing their support behind the project.

In canvassing support for the former Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Wabara and Abaribe described him as eminently qualified and intellectually endowed to fix Nigeria going forward.

The two South East political leaders made the declaration at a grand civic reception for Senator Abaribe at Obingwa in Abia State with Senator Anyim in attendance as a special guest of honour.

They urged Ndigbo and Nigerians across all races and political divide to trust and fully support the former Senate President as the person to change their fate and move the country to greater heights.

Senator Wabara, who is the Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Board of Trustees (BoT), said Chief Anyim had garnered the capacity, the requisite knowledge and national appeal to deliver as Nigeria’s President come 2023.

He said Anyim’s political antecedents as well as the prevailing peace and tremendous achievements that characterised his tenures as the Senate President and SGF “leave no one in doubt that Nigeria needs a true and competent patriot like him to move forward”.

The PDP chieftain called on Nigerians to keep faith and give Anyim a chance to return Nigeria to the path of growth and greatness.

Also speaking at the occasion, the honouree, Senator Abaribe acknowledged Anyim’s leadership qualities, his candor, political maturity and wealth of experience, describing him as one of Igbo’s first eleven that has all it takes to rescue and calibrate Nigeria for sustainable growth and development.

He solicited the support of all progressive Nigerians, irrespective of their political leanings, to have faith in Senator Anyim, saying he is divinely endowed and strategically prepared to give Nigeria a breadth of fresh air and new hope.

Almost turning into a political carnival for both Anyim and Abaribe, the event had various speakers rooting for the twosome to the admiration of the large crowd that gathered.

Senator Anyim had, in his remarks, praised the Ngwa nation for honouring Senator Abaribe with the chieftaincy title of “Maduforo Nde Ngwa”, describing him as an irrepressible voice at the senate.

He said Abaribe could be trusted with any higher responsibility while applauding him for standing firm for justice and equity.

In declaring interest to contest the 2023 presidential race, Senator Anyim urged Nigerians to believe and trust him for the political and multi-sectoral salvation of the country.
