BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Obi II Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Bishop Ezekiel Musa-Malle, has constructed three bridges linking more than 10 communities in the constituency.
During the inauguration of one the projects in Obi Local Government Area of the State, Musa-Malle said the intervention was aimed at alleviating the sufferings of residents caused by the deplorable condition of the bridges.
He further said that the first bridge links Gude, Shupe, Ome and Atabula communities, while the second connects Gida Ausa I with Dazhela, Dazhogwa and other neighbouring communities.
Musa-Malle also said that work was also ongoing on the third bridge linking Ome with other communities, adding that the projects were undertaken to ease the movement of people and the transportation of farm produce and other goods to markets and urban centres.
Musa-Malle, who is the founder and Bishop of Finger of God Ministry and Chief Executive Officer of Easy Light Humanitarian Foundation, said the interventions became necessary because of the hardship being experienced by residents, particularly during the rainy season.
This was as he also said that he paid three months’ electricity bills in Duduguru community, repaired a faulty transformer and installed two electricity poles that were destroyed by a rainstorm.
The NDC candidate pledged that, if elected in 2027, he would facilitate employment opportunities for youths, empower women and farmers, and attract government presence to the communities to address the challenges confronting the people.
“I will also sponsor quality bills, move impactful motions that will empower our people and open our communities to development,” Musa-Malle said.
Responding on behalf of the benefiting communities, the Village Head of Shupe, Mr Peter Markus, commended Musa-Malle for the intervention, describing it as the first major private intervention in infrastructure in the area.
Markus said that before the construction and rehabilitation efforts, the bridges were in such devastating condition that residents of the affected communities found it difficult to access urban centres and transport their farm produce to markets.
He expressed appreciation to the NDC candidate for responding to the needs of the communities and improving their access to neighbouring areas.
