BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State has cautioned members habouring political ambition for the 2027 general elections to desist from heating up the system as the party moves to unveil modalities for its planned primaries.

Director General of ‘Prince Is Coming’, the apex political support group for Governor Bassey Otu’s re-election, Chief (Dr) Emmanuel Ironbar said though there is nothing wrong for people to seek political offices of their choice, party faithfuls must always remind themselves and bear in mind that the Party is supreme in matters concerning the emergence of candidates.

Ironbar, who delivered the charge at a mega endorsement rally in Ikom Local Government Area over the weekend, reminded aspirants that seeking the party’s ticket goes with a high level of commitment and responsibility, since the people’s mandate demands accountability , as demonstrated by Governor Otu since his assumption of office as the servant leader.

He said the party leadership is fully keen on managing internal processes to prevent “heating up the system” and ensuring fairness, transparency and inclusive primaries are delivered to all interested aspirants going forward.

The ‘Prince Is Coming’ boss further assured that the party would not fold its arms and allow selfish office seekers to fly the party’s flag with the dubious motive of lining their private pockets at the expense of the people’s commonwealth.

New-look Governor’s Office and CRS Library complex

Hammering on the need for integrity and accountable conduct from those seeking to occupy public offices, Chief Ironbar aspirants must look beyond selfish and personal gains in politics while focusing on things that touch on public trust and democracy dividends for Cross Riverians.

On Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s scorecard in the last three years, Ironbar maintained that his impressive performance has endeared him and the APC to the people of Cross River State and beyond.

According to him, when the idea of presenting Prince Bassey Otu for the governorship race was muted prior to the 2023 general elections, it was as if a crime was about to be committed, but just after three years in office, he has emerged as a governor that is not just loved by the people, but also the first choice candidate for even opposition parties.

Chief Ironbar listed some of the Governor’s remarkable milestone achievements to include the new look State Library Complex and the Cross River State Newspapers Corporation, publishers of the Nigerian Chronicle, that were utterly vandalised during the #EndSars protest as well as the Governor’s Office Complex which are now beauty to behold.

Ironbar, who is the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Governor, also l mentioned that besides paying West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) fees for indigenes of the State to lay a solid foundation for human capital development, the ‘People’s First’ administration has embarked on massive infrastructural development and expansion that continues to gain momentum even at the grassroots’ level.
