A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Haruna Yerima has said that the retention of Vice President Kashim Shettima by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as running mate in 2027 in line with the Muslim-Muslim ticket would give him victory at the polls.
Yerima, who stated this on Saturday while reacting to the position of the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum (NENF), urging President Tinubu to drop Shettima and avoid repeating the Muslim-Muslim ticket, emphasised that it was completely out of place, unfounded and a fallacy for the group to arrive at such a decision.
The NENF had in a statement insisted on President Tinubu picking a Christian from Benue, Plateau, and Taraba states to allay the fears of Islamisation agenda by his presidency, stressing that retaining the Muslim-Muslim ticket would give the opposition a ready campaign.
But, Yerima said the claim may lose the 2027 presidential elections if President Bola Tinubu adopts Vice President Shettima as his running mate is insane and totally unfounded.
Yerima, a former member of the House of Representatives, said that the insinuation that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi’s ticket would defeat that of Tinubu/Shettima is an amateur political calculation without any empirical and logical thinking and backing.
He further said; “We dismiss this statement by one Dominic Alancha of a faceless organisation, Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum, who urged President Tinubu to drop Senator Shettima and avoid repeating the Muslim-Muslim ticket”.
