The Speaker Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon Ahmed Mirwa Lawan, has lost his seat to a 35-year-old Lawan Musa, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nguru II Constituency.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the election, Dr Habib Muhammad, said Musa, scored 6,648 votes to defeat Yobe’s Speaker of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 6,466 votes.
In announcing the results, Muhammad said other candidates of African Democratic Congress (ADC), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Allied People’s Movement (APM) secured 3,023, 45, and 14 votes respectively.
