The 38 persons who were recently abducted in an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained freedom.
The abductees were freed on Sunday, November 23, 2025 following extensive combing of forests and hard work by security forces and government representatives.
This was announced by Kwara State Governor, Mr AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who said that their release was wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, who personally led the efforts to free the abductees.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed immense gratitude to President Tinubu for his direct initiative that made the freedom of the victims possible.
President Tinubu had called off his scheduled trip for the G20 Meeting in South Africa to attend to the breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States and also directed heightened security deployments to Kwara, in what underlined his firm commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the people and Nigerians as a whole.
AbdulRazaq expresses appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser; the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigerian Army; Nigeria Intelligence Agency; and the Nigeria Police, which he noted graciously deployed four new tactical teams to Kwara State on the directive of the President.
A statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State State governor, stated that Governor AbdulRazaq also thanked members of the security forces across board, leaders of thought, religious institutions, and all people of Kwara State for their support and goodwill since the unfortunate incident.
The statement was silent on how the 38 victims were freed neither did it say anything concerning the ransom of N100million demanded by the terrorists per person or they were rescued by security agencies.
